DWP SCRAP ‘UNNECESSARY’ BENEFIT ASSESSMENTS FOR SEVERELY SICK & DISABLED

19th June 2018

There appears to be some good news coming from the DWP at last, as Welfare Weekly reports that the unnecessary benefit assessments for the severely sick and disabled in our society will be scrapped.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that those severely sick and disabled people who have been awarded the highest levels of support under Personal Independence Payment (PIP) will no longer be required to attend repeated assessments.

This is welcome news to the most vulnerable people of our society and we hope that it’s just the first step of many changes to ease the pressure on such people.
