Foodbanks Appeal For Donations As The Trussell Trust Reports A Need For Help To Feed Children During School Holidays

3rd August 2018

The Trussell Trust raises alarm about the recent shortage of donations reports The Guardian today.

Frances Perraudin of The Guardian writes that calls have been made for the public to donate to their local Foodbank during the summer holidays owing to increasing demand from families who rely on free school meals during term time.

The Trussell Trust states that over a third of all food distributed by the Foodbank network throughout the year goes to children, but there is extra financial pressure to provide main meals during the school holidays for families who rely on free school meals during term time.

This report underlines the ongoing need for Foodbanks as the Government’s continuous cuts to benefits leaves many vulnerable people in desperate situations. The trend is ever-increasing, leaving Foodbanks distributing more food parcels on a daily basis, while the number of donations aren’t able to keep up with the demand.

Bexley Foodbank urges the public to please be generous and donate as much as you can to help us help those in need.
